Conveniently located in the heart of the city,
Tamahan is an old-style Japanese hotel.
Hello everyone from around the world.
I am the owner of this small lodge in the Higashiyama area of Gion
which has been here since my mother's time.
This lodge has a spacious garden for the floor space and was once a retreat.
In Kyoto, the outer appearance of the buildings cannot be changed so
this lodge has remained the same as it had in the past. It is one of the
few houses in Japan today.
There are 10 rooms total and each room has a wooden bath and western
toilets equipped with automatic bidets.
The rooms have traditional Japanese interiors equipped
with heating and air conditioning.
Yukata, Tanzen, Hanten (Japanese sleep wear) are provided and Futons are
provided for your rest at night.
For breakfast, Japanese food (Kyoto-like menu) or bread meal (coffee,
Tea, egg dishes, fruits etc.) will be delivered to the room.
Bird chirps, temple bells can be heard in the morning and evenings.
Otherwise it is a quiet place located near shopping locations.
This lodge may pass on like Sara'i in Morocco. Be sure to visit before it does.
Recently I recall the smell of jasmine from the garden of Sara'i in Casablanca.
We have an old plum tree in our garden.
